I went to Barcelona once, it did not live up to my expectations.
I arrived the Saturday before my big day and let's just start with the Airbnb Superhost, super it was not. Firstly, my flight arrived later than scheduled, so the host left my key with the local grocery store owner, who was happy to explain to me how unsafe the are was and to not trust anyone and to keep my purse close. "Sir, should I also not trust you", I thought. With key in hand, 50 lb roller bag and full backpack, I walked to locate the Airbnb around the corner. It was not easy to find. Once inside, there was an unusual odor present that even after purchasing a candle to burn, I could not get rid of. Yes, there was a washer and dryer, however, the dryer had a full load of laundry in it. There were no basic for cooking, like oil, salt and pepper. This is a standard. Think about it this way, would you purchase a bottle of oil and salt and pepper for a week long stay? No, so it is standard to have these items in the kitchen. Lastly, the ants, there were ants everywhere, amazingly, except in the bedroom, thankfully. I was booked for 1 week and there was no getting out of it, so I made the best of it.
I digress.
In an effort to make the best of a not so good situation, I decided to book a different co-working space everyday and made a point to walk everywhere, hoping to be inspired by something, someone, anything.
'I stumbled across the famous "House of Gaudi", and it was cool, the architecture was so very interesting to look at.
The day before I left, I visited the famous La Sagrada Familia. AMAZING! The churches in Europe are so grandiose. I mean, just look at these photos.
Also, the day I left, I found this cute little coffee shop, La Cherry Coffee Co. It was perfect, welcoming, good music, kind staff. It was just what I needed that morning.
